Student Council with parents

The Student Council of Kahibah Public School empowers all the students to be involved in the decision making of our school.

Every class is represented by 2 elected personnel and the Council is run by the school prefects. Positions are held for 6 months to allow as wide a representation as possible and to share the opportunity of leadership. They follow correct meeting protocol.

Recommendations they make are presented to the staff for ratification and frequently students are involved in the action or the implementation of the proposals.

Suggestions that have been instituted include a new and larger sandpit, more play equipment, the construction of cricket nets, more ducks for the farmyard and the establishment of a peer mediation team of year 6 volunteers. They have been involved in canteen improvements, and raising funds to help furnish our school hall.

These students are community minded and proactive.

They are proud of their say. They know they are all valued as equal members of our school community and, as a staff, we are very  appreciative of their input.

The major achievements have included:-
* Breakfast in the Canteen
* Mini water bottles in the canteen
* Grass regrown on the oval
* Soap dispensers and hand dryers in the toilets
* Inviting the teachers into the talent quest
* Student and Staff Helpers (SASH) program
